Question draught-proof catflaps

We have a catflap for our 2 cats, Gussie Finknottle and Madeleine Bassett. Unfortunately it lets in a howling gale and while it is very convenient for them, we freeze! Does anybody have advice on good catflaps please?

Hi & welcome, love your cats' names! I'm afraid I can't help with this, although I'd be interested to see your replies- our cat flap doesn't really let the wind through but we do get massive slugs crawling in through ours! Maybe you couls post this in the cat chat section, there may be someone there who can help

Re: draught-proof catflaps

Hiya - welcome to PF.

We've just got the new style Petporte which has a built in draft excluder. Have only had it in for a week but seems to be working fine so far.

Cool Re: draught-proof catflaps

Love the cat pics, I will try to put our maniacs' pics up! The petporte sounds as if it might work for us but I think it needs the cats to be wearing collars and so far I've tried to avoid that as we live in the wilds of the country and I'm afraid of them getting caught up in undergrowth etc while they are hunting. Shall have to have a bit of a think about it. However at least we don't have slugs coming through our catflap like someone had - yukkkkkk. slugs don't like crawling over prickly stuff, so maybe some grit outside or something?

The Pet Porte works by reading the cat's microchip so our two go collar free (Patch lost 3 before we gave up with them). Are your cats done?

We don't have problems with slugs getting in as we have steps going to the front door. Your cat probably wouldn't like the grit anyway & would, no doubt, end up tracking it into your house.
