Hello There

Hi Everyone!

I'm Debbie from South Shields and I'm hoping to buy my first cat at the weekend and can't wait

I have few friends who have cats who all seem to give me advice which contradicts something someone else has said or I've read somewhere.

I've just stumbled across your fab forum while trying to work out whether to get a normal litter tray or a hooded one. (I think I'll now check out the hooded one in Argos)

The only thing I know at present is that I want a short haired cat but there are so many decisions I still need to make:

Kitten or Cat
one or two
boy or girl
etc

I work full time (mon-fri 9-5) and have been advised towards keepnig my cat indoors due to the busy main road runnig alongside my flat

Any advice would be much appreciated

Looking forward to reading lots on your site

Debbie

Re: Hello There

Hi there!!

I have an indoor cat - we have had her since a kitten.

I have a normal litter tray and use crystals as it stops it from smelling.

I would suggest you have a cat that is used to being indoors or a kitten.

Our cat is female and can't be spayed as she has a heart murmer so its just as well she is an indoor cat!!

Boy cats spray (it smells bad!!) and smell worse if not castrated.

Sorry not much help

Are you going to a rescue centre??

Re: Hello There

Hi welcome to the forum
I wish I had two only have one (at the moment), they keep each other company.
I have a hooded tray, but used a open one when he was lil, some of the hooded ones can be quite high if it's kittens you are getting, yet some kittens just take to hooded, so trial & error I think.
Good for you going to the shelters first.
A boy & girl is ok I have heard,
Two boy's ok,
but remember someone on the forum saying two girls don't bond as well, but I have not had any experience of this.
And my OH is still keeping his big size 10 heels firmly planted that I cannot have anothe cat sorry on going rant

Re: Hello There

Well I've just spoken with a lady who fosters cats and she has a lovely 14 month old boy waiting for me to go see him on saturday.

He was living with a lovely family until the wife had a baby. Foster lady tells me he's very affectionate and comes neutered and injected and with his own bed, scratch post and toys (plus the usual adoption kit of a voucher for food etc)

He's been littering in one of the argos hooded trays (which I've reserved for pickup today) which is handy too
