New to the forum - new kitten owner

Hi all,

I have just taken possession of two approx 6 week old kittens. I live in Spain and they were found by the bins, being the soft hearted person I am they now have a permanent address!

I think they are both boys.

I always had cats in the UK but have not had a cat in 5 years of being here so I have a few questions.

This morning one the kittens has had a poo, during the night so I don't know which one, and there appeared to be a some bloody type matter attached to it. Of course I am going to get it the vets asap but does anyone have any ideas as to what this is? Although my Spanish is pretty good sometimes things can get lost in translation!

Any suggestion before I go would be great

Many thanks

Babyderm

Hi and Welcome! well done for rescuing them.

Are they wormed? If not that would be a start, they could also have parasites, you'll probably have to get a sample of their stool to take with you to the vets to be tested.

Hello and welcome BabyDerm-given that you found them as strays wouldn't like to guess at what it could be(also wouldn't want to frighten you) taking them to the vets for a general check is the best thing to do for them-as hopefully it will be something and nothing-will keep everything crossed for them and youDo please let us know what happens and know it sounds horrid but if you can maybe take a sample so it can be examined and maybe a bit easier to show the vet if your not to clever with speaking spanish-i can just about speak some sort of English,so i know what you mean

aww well done for rescuing them. I love hearing stories like that!

Maybe the kits have worms? I'm sure the vet will know what to do when you take them. He'll prob de-worm and de-flea them aswell.

Good luck! Some pics would be great!

Re: New to the forum - new kitten owner

Thanks all for your kind welcome and advice.

It is so great having cats back in the house!! I wish I had got them sooner.
They are very healthy and playful and my kids love looking after them, they are very attentive.

They are certainly a great addition to the 2 kids, 3 fish, one hamster and countless snails - my son has a thing for snails!

THey are called Tiger and Rambo (don't ask!)

I will let you all know how they get on.
