Hi all.

My name is Rob and I have recently started keeping Stick insects.

I started out with 10 of the usual

Indian Stick (Carausius Morosus)


then while I was at the Kettering Bug Show I purchased

9 Vietnamese Prickly Insect (Neohirasea Maerens) Nymphs


and

3 Giant Thorny's (Trachyaretaon Bruekneri) 2 Females and 1 male.


I also have a tub with 5 or 6 different species of stick insects eggs (Ova) in but I am unsure as to the species as yet.

But I think I have got:-

Spinohirasea bengalensis



Phyllium sp (phillipenes)



Eurycantha calcarata



Phaenopharos khaoyaiensis



Aretaon asperrimus

There are around 3000 species of Stick Insects (Phasmids) in the world. But there are only around 180'ish, that are actually kept as pets or for study.

They were originally for my son as he is into his creepy crawlys, but 6 weeks into the stick insect keeping and I have gained quite an interest in them myself.

I will be giving my sons school 4 Indian Stick Insects to keep which will leave me with.:-

6 Indian Stick Insects
8 Vietnamese Prickly Stick Insects (one died, not known why)
3 Giant Thorny Stick Insects

Plus I have some Baby (Nymphs) stick insects (6 in total,I think 4 are Red Winged Stick Insects, 1 is as yet unidentified till it gets older, and the 6th one is an Indian Stick Insect).
