Cavalier King Charles is such a worry

Hi I've just joined! I have a 3 yr old Cavalier called Cody. He has suffered wih diarrhea since a puppy. I have, with my vet, tried all sorts of diets and he is currently on salmon and potato dry food with added tinned salmon (he won't eat dry food alone!)

He has bouts of diarrhea but has just started vomiting early morning. He wakes at 5 or 6 am drooling and starts heaving and making a oughing noise then vomits yellow bile. After that he seems fine, if a little quiet.

His tummy makes very loud gurgling noises too.

I feel like I'm not getting anywhere as just as he seems well, we go back to it all again. I love him dearly and wonder what I can do next?

Thanks to all
x

Re: Cavalier King Charles is such a worry

Why not try a different vet? Some vets can be better or worse than others, it's really just trial and error.

I hope you find a solution soon because it must really be heartbreaking!

And welcome to PF!

Thanks! I have considered changing vets and looking into a homeopathic vet too...
I have an appointment tomorrow with the vet and will go from there.

Many thanks

Re: Cavalier King Charles is such a worry

Our dog has never had diarrhea but she has thrown up yelllow bile before. She too made the sound like you describe, the same noise cats make when getting up a furball. After asking our vet he has said it usually means she has gone too long without food. It always happened in the morning.

We now give her a Bonio before bed and it has 100% solved the problem. She has never been a big eater so it seems she is a little-and-often kind of gal.

Re: Cavalier King Charles is such a worry

Hiya and welcome

I would be asking your vet to send you to your nearest referral centre, where you can see specialists in all sorts of areas to try and diagnose the problem.

In the mean time a very light diet would probably be best - but speak to a nutritionist first!
