Looking for the perfect puppy

Hi, I have just joined. I have two children aged 8 and 10 and have been promising since my daughter was 3 that I would get a puppy when she was 10 (2 weeks ago). We have two cats, fish, and a hamster. We want a small/medium size bitch and are keen to get a female puppy that we can collect during the summer school holidays.
Any advice on what breed much appreciated - we like King Charles Cavalier but also Whippets. I grew up with golden Labs and spaniels but don't want something quite so energetic. I work part time during term time so home most of the week but not all day. No problems taking long walks but prefer something that won't become distressed if left alone.
Thanks,
Nicola

Re: Looking for the perfect puppy

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Cavi and Whippets are both lovely breeds.
1st thing to do is find reputable breeders, and ask them a million questions.
Then when you are happy get your name on their waiting lists.
Good luck

Re: Looking for the perfect puppy

I may just be lucky but my Cocker isn't particularly energetic.

It's not a working cocker, loves a walk but is just as happy hanging out at home, is great with the kids (mine are 2 & 5) and is a lovely size (we didn't want anything too big because my daughter is only 2).

I would recommend my breeder but she isn't having a litter this year.

How long will it need to be left during the day?
