Birman cat calling...

Hi All,
I am new to pet forums and about 4 weeks ago became the proud owner of Tally (a 2 year old seal point Birman). Her breeder had expected to use her as a Queen but Tally had decided that she wasn't going to call and so I answered an advert to rehome Tally. She was booked in to be spayed before she came to me but the breeder had just had another female cat spayed days before hand and the cat had died from renal failure, so I agreed to take her without her being spayed. She has been with me for about 4 weeks and guess what 'she is calling'!. I called the breeder yesterday (who I am also getting a kitten from at the end of January) and we were both falling about laughing as the breeder had been waiting for her to do this for obvious reasons!

Well life with my delightful Birman has been an experience however she has been calling now since Sunday and I want to know if there is anything I can do to calm her down. It is as if she doesnt know whats happening to her and her bodyclock is all out of order, she is sleeping all day and 'talking/crying' all night. Think the neighbours might have something to say abut it if it carries on much longer.

Re: Birman cat calling...

Hi there

Well isn't it always the way! Some are just late maturers.

You can try giving her half a Piriton tablet to quieten her down but this does only last about 12 hours so may be best given at night to make sure you all get some sleep. It may help to shorten her call too.

Hope that helps.

Marcia.
