Hello, everybody. My name is Charlie and my wife Louise and I have two lovely wee cockatiels named Bertie and Maddy. They are the joy of our lives. When we first bought Bertie from a reputable local shop we were assured that Bertie is male. Imagine our surprise when Bertie produced an egg yesterday! Yes, Bertie is now Berta!

A knowledgable man at another local Pet Supply shop has advised us to remove the egg from Berta`s cage as she will become overly attached to it - natural maternal instinct - and will grieve when it finally rots. Can anyone advise me on this, please?

Also can anyone recommend a good care book or software on cockatiels. We have been caring for the two wee beauties on a 'learn as you proceed' basis until now but would really like to upgrade our knowledge.
