opinions please

Hi all

Please can you help me . I have never owned cats before but i recently adopted two cats from the rspca who i believe are mother and son. the mother is slightly brain damaged which we think maybe from a car accident.

when i got them the rspca said they could never go outside but i just dont know if i am been cruel. when i first got them they were really nervous but now the younger cat has really come out of his shell and wont leave me alone

am just wondering should i let him out??

Re: opinions please

It would deffo be dangerous to let the brain damaged one out, she wouldnt have any road sense or have the intelligence to keep herself out of harms way.

And its not fair to let the son out, and keep the mother indoors (and she may try to sneak out with him).

I would keep them both as indoor cats to be on the safe side, just my opinion. But cat harnesses are great...

Brain damaged cat (mother) and son- WOW You've done a great thing and given them both a home. You're definately not cruel! The mum would be at great risk and yes, she might try and sneak out with her son. Outside there are ticks (now), fleas,
traffic and unscrupulous people. All in all, you're doing them a favour. Buy a harness & lead. Don't forget to put a collar on both cats just in case, with a disc showing your tel no, & postcode. (No name tho' )incase he/she wriggles backwards out of it. Take treats with you when outside. Be calm, quiet patient & good luck to you all

Re: opinions please

Thanks to all

I do want to keep them in deep down but theres a side that says just keep them in they seem very happy . the son i think is just curious because hes stilll only young i think and mam has shown no interset at all in going out

i would never forgive myself if something happened to them anyway, every time i heard a dog bark or a car go past i would be on edge xx

Smile Re: opinions please

hi just to let you know that i bought a cat harness today for the son . he sat with me on my knee for ten minutes , then when a neighbour came accross to say hello he went all shy and went back in the house . I am so glad i have the harness but now i also know hes happy in the house .

i had to pick him up and make him sit on the step so might just keep trying now and again but he has had fresh air so i can stop feeling guilty !! xx
