At my wits end

I have a 12 yr old Australian Smithfield Blue Stumpy Tail Cattle Dog , That I have had from 6 Weeks old , She Is as Dear To me As my kids are. Three Weeks Ago She Hurt her back Or Hips I'm not quite sure which, chasing the ball. She is in quite a bit of pain , she won't eat or drink unless I bring her food to her, so It's obviously painful to walk . I am a pensioner living in a retirement village who take 90% of my pension to live here, which leaves me virtually pocket change to live on. I don't wan't to say good-buy to her until I have exhausted every avenue open to me , as I have had a collapsed disk myself , and know it takes time to heal . I would like to know if there is any human painkiller I can give to her safely, to ease her pain while I see how she recovers.

Re: At my wits end

I'm sorry but all you can do is take her to the vet, human painkillers could kill her and I'm fairly sure it wouldn't be quick. I'm very sorry to hear you're in this situation but if she needs treatment maybe they can let you do a payment plan?

Re: At my wits end

Hi, so sorry to hear about your girl.
I'm not sure if you have the same as we do in the uk. Our PDSA sometimes helps with bills in situations like this.
Might be worth you doing a Google search.

Re: At my wits end

Tony, please don't give your dog human painkillers as they could kill her. It sounds to me like she needs anti-inflammatories. I would take her to the vet and get her checked over. If you can't pay the bill then ask for a payment plan. No vet will refuse to help because you can't afford to pay.

Don't know if it helps, but try these people. Explain your predicament and they might be able to help or suggest someone who can help -

Good luck. I know what you're going through.
