Re: debs

Its not uncommon for them to still be groggy and they dont always want to eat or not much the first night. If you can get him to drink little and often that would be good, drinking large amounts very quickly can sometimes make them sick. If he does seem hungry just give him something light like scrambled egg or chicken and rice.

Dogs do tend to heal very quickly, so the stitches will probably be out in about 12 days or so. It will probably look a lot better then, and the fur usually grows back pretty quickly too. Its probably a little post op swelling, the stitches and the shaved fur making it look a lot worse.

Welcome to the forum!
Sorry your dog has been through the wars. They do look dreadful just after surgery, and normally start to moult terribly after the General Anaesthetic, but apart from the stiches he will look nearly normal in the morning, you will be quite surprised!

Hope to see you around the place

Tanya
