Hello and advise please!

Hello!

I've been wanting a dog for 14 years and my husband has finally agreed that we could have one - but what sort!!!!

I love German Shepherds, but our house really isn't big enough. My other choice would be a Springer Spaniel. I work 6 hours each day, but have all the school holidays off and have plenty of time to walk the dog after school and before we go in the morning.

I would like a Springer size dog with a short to medium coat - any suggestions please!!!

Thank you. x

Re: Hello and advise please!

Really want a puppy, as I have to kids (6 and 7) and want to really know the dogs temprament. I would LOVE a German Shepherd but feel that the house isn't big enough

I'm not really into Staffies or bulldogs or anything like that and I don't like terriers.

Re: Hello and advise please!

PLEASE dont be offended.but my sister had a springer and it used to eat anything and everything, including net curtains..because he was left on his own too long.6 hours a day seems a long time in my oppion to leave a pup..it will get bored..

Re: Hello and advise please!

I have to agree I breed springers and they are total headcases need to be kept busy, and if your house is big enough for a springer it is more than big enough for a golden retriever!!

A dog that is good with children is a german spitz they are biggest 15" to the shoulder

Re: Hello and advise please!

I didn't take offence don't worry, i posted on here for advice and am pleased to hear peoples thoughts. I have to admit I did think that a springer might get bored, but some people say it would be fine on its own......

Re: Hello and advise please!

S/he is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS - I WANT HIM/HER!!!!

I grew up with a longhaired GSD and she was so dopey when I was younger I used to push her around in my dolls pram!! She was an amazing dog and I would love another, but can't convince my husband! I'm just so pleased he's agreed to getting a dog.
