my cat was run over yesterday and I am devestated

My beautiful cat was run over yesterday. I opened the curtains to see him lying on the road. I buried him yesterday and found it so hard to come home tonight to him not being here. my partner is overseas, and I cant stop thinking about my cat, Tibby, and even the good memories make me cry so much. I miss him like a hole has been cut out of my stomach. I know that time heals, but I just need to talk to other people that have experienced this intense grief for their pet.

Re: my cat was run over yesterday and I am devestated

Dear Gila,
I am honestly so so sorry to hear about your Cat. My best friends tabby was knocked down recently and he was inconsolable for weeks.
When my Pets have died in the past i too feel like you must do now.
Just remember that they are in heaven and in a better place now. That is what i did to keep strong. All the best, and sincerely i feel for you.

Re: my cat was run over yesterday and I am devestated

HI
I understand how you feel we lost our lovely old dog at the end of June and we are just coming to terms with it now .Unless you have had a pet people just don't understand the meaning of unconditional love they give you. I know how you feel it's like a knot constantly turning in your gut and it physically aches . It does eventually heal but there are always reminders around that doesn't let you forget them. Chin up just think back on all the joy your cat brought you.
Kind Regards
Betty

Re: my cat was run over yesterday and I am devestated

Hi Gila
I'm so very sorry to hear about your cat
To some people pets are 'just' pets and they don't hold much emotional connection with them. To others, pets are so much more.... part of the family. I see my cats as my children and when awful things happen it is devestating and sometimes hard to talk about the loss with friends who maybe don't understand how much we feel for them.
Time is the greatest healer and please just comfort yourself that your cat is at peace and I'd imagine lived a very happy life with you .

Re: my cat was run over yesterday and I am devestated

Thankyou all so much for the words of comfort. Today is better than yesterday, and i know that each day will become easier. I miss him the most when i walk in the door, and he used to sit and wait for me at the window. I think he is still around in spirit, and will always be remembered in my heart. My boyfriend returns from overseas this evening, and it will be the first time he has been home since it happened, and I feel i may be in for a pretty emotional night, as he also loved Tibby, and Tibby was the cat we chose together when he was a kitten. . He did have a great life for an explorer and hunter cat, and was happiest either sleeping, eating or hunting, and at least he did quickly after what Im sure was a great hunt in the field over the road. I know he was well and happy when he died and that is comfort to me.
I buried him in the ground next to the ashes of another loved cat of mine. I hope they find each other and are playing in their next life.
RIP Tibby.
