Re: Samoyed
Hi
I am new to all this forum thing but hoping that there are people out there with more experience than me who don't mind giving me some hints and tips! My partner and I decided to get a dog last year and he decided on a samoyed, not just on looks but also because of their personality's. We found a 9 month old male in a rescue centre and have had Bailey now for over a year. However we felt sorry for him having no one to play with as our 8 year old pekingese Gizmo is not the playing sort! So yesterday we took on Tia, a 2 year old female Sammy whose owner just didn't have enough time due to work commitments to give her the attention she needed. So now we have 3 crazy balls of fluff in our house! I would love to hear from other sammy owners about their experiences and also any hints or tips on the best ways to train them! Bailey has just about managed the basics, like sit and cuddles as he is a total doofus! However Tia seems very quick and willing to learn and I would love to train her as I hope this will help her settle in with us more and also I really don't want two crazy dogs! Thanks |

Re: Samoyed
Hi,
So you have two Samis of about 2 years, male and female? Have I got that right? You are very brave ![]() OK, so this is what I would do I would walk them both seperately so you can give them the attention they need. I use comfy fleece harnesses Fleece Dog Harnesses | Dog Collars | Dog Harness | Dog Leads Don't use check chains Concentrate on the basics, sit, down, stay. It helps for them to understand these commands, so that they will be able to co-operate with the considerable grooming you will have to do ![]() Are they both OK about grooming? I presume Bailey is castrated as he came from rescue. Keep their minds busy; you will never wear them out with exercise. The more they get, the fitter they get. Keep their minds busy. Do you know about clicker training? Enough I'm beginning to sound like a bore ![]() Linda |
