Re: Hi from Alpha-She!

Hi , thanks for welcome and for kind words about Joey. He was our top dog and we miss him so much and the pack are only just beginning to move on. D'Arcy (my sig pic) is now beginning to fill the role.
Glad you like the pic! My husband made that dais for them so's I could teach them a game of 'catch' - they love it. Youngsters Flossie 3rd and Fenella 3rd were more interested in watching little spiders and beetles! They are expert catchers now tho' and whilst they are in season :-( I've been teaching them to 'wave'. They feel real good now they can do it and it means we get prime time together whilst they are 'in isolation'.

Re: Hi from Alpha-She!

I'd really like to tell you all about my Rescue project - don't know it it is okay to talk about it here, but hey, here goes 'cos it's just about the most important thing to me right now, especially now Joey has gone home to Ben, his dad. because I've written a book about them all, including Joey and Ben.
ALL THE PROCEEDS ARE GOING TO ESA/RESCUE.
And it is YOUR DOG Magazine Recommended Read for Sept 2010.

I usually write mystery novels with a touch of the supernatural, but people kept asking to write about my Setters. So I did.
The book is called 'Memories of a Moon Map' : The Extraordinary Adventures of an English Setter Pack' - and Ben tells the story from beyond Rainbow Bridge. The book is illustrated with their pics and all of the book price of £6.99 goes to help dogs in need.

It was launched by the English Setter Association and has since been taken up by Canada, USA and Australia too.

It's a doggy book with a difference. Ben - the sire, grandsire and great grandsire of my Setter family - tells the story from the other side of Rainbow Bridge, and introduces the other pack members who tell of their adventures too. There's thrills, spills and a touch of the mystical.
So, even if you're not into Setters, but can enjoy a good page-turning read about dogs, told by dogs, then do pleeeeze take a peek at
the web web site and help the dogs in need.(or just take a look anyway, no obligation!)
Pendragon Press Ltd ~ A Story that has to be told... ~ Nina Green novels and E-Books ~ or you can check it out on Amazon.

Thanks very much from me, and Ben, for reading this. I hope I haven't broken any rules, and that you will all still chat to me about doggy things in general!
(I am going to post a similar piece in the Rescue Forum).

Re: Hi from Alpha-She!

Sounds like a good read We have lots of chapters in life with spots rangeing from accidents, illnesses, stupid things they have swollowed carryons at the vets & all sorts of things at the beach but I dont think they will make it into a book or if they did I would have to change names to protect against embarresment

Wink Re: Hi from Alpha-She!

Many thanks for encouragement!
It took some nerve (to put it politely!) to post that up but knowing it is for Ben and his folks makes it easier to do embarrassing things!

Yup, I know where you are coming from, worn the T Some of the early adventures are like that - swallowed pills, visits to vet etc but the later ones in the book are more 'ghostly'. Strange things have always 'dogged' me (pardon the awful pun ) and they being my dogs, well, only to be expected same for them too. I did consider changing the names of my pack to 'protect the guilty' but decided to be up front and honest. (Besides Joey was such a show-off and made it clear he wanted to be 'up there' for all to see! This is where my 'handle' Alpha-She comes from, as humans aren't named as such because it is the dogs' book, not mine! Oops, sorry for banging on about my pet obsession again

I'm sure you and your gang could tell some good tales too!
Thanks again for the nice reply, I really appreciate it.

Just Joey Head.jpg

Img2353.jpgHi again, and many thanks for nice comments.

I'm thrilled to know that Moon Map will be on your Xmas wish list and hope Santa obliges I never talk about my other books but feel like telling the world about his one because it is for my beloved Ben (still with me and I talk to him all the time, even tho' it's now 5yrs since Rainbow Bridge) and for the needy dogs, so I have to do it for them. The feedback has been terrific so I think you will enjoy!

Really having probs putting in pics - this is sixth attempt! can't seem to copy/paste images or insert as a proper photo. but will try again later.

The ones above, starting at the top: Ben, then his son, Just Joey (he has just passed over R. Bridge) and bottom is D'Arcy (Ben's grandson, aged 3yrs, now 6yrs). Both Ben and Joey were Show Champions and I took them when they retired. D'Arcy I have had from a pup with his litter sister Destiny.
Ben was Top Dog (I'm their Alpha of course!), then Joey took over when Ben passed on, and now that Joey has gone, D'Arcy is just slipping into the role. (D'Arcy is a lovely big boy, nibbles my nose and ears and talks to me with his eyes). He is my sign.pic. All my Setters are from same breeder and are related. One big happy family!
