Re: puppy wont stop crying at night!! help

i have a springer spaniel puppy 8 weeks old when we got her,2 or 3 sleepless nights then we bought a cage, money well spent, after a couple of whining nights she settled down and no problem, put newspaper at one end then if she wants to wee in the night! usually, she goes on paper and bedding stops dry. she goes and sleeps in there in the day as well. Hope you get your problem solved. robbo

Re: puppy wont stop crying at night!! help

Does she spend time in the back hall at any other time or is she just put in there at night?

Congratulations on new pup.
I would rather have pup in the bedroom with me and get up during the night to let her out for wee.....than to be kept awake at night with her crying.
She is only tiny and misses the rest of the litter and needs you near her and you get a good nights sleep
mine all sleep in our room

A puppy crate in your bedroom is a good idea, dogs are pack animals so like to be around company all the time

Re: puppy wont stop crying at night!! help

We have also got a cage for our Springer Spaniel. We did leave her in the lounge the first few nights but she was crying so much that she has been sleeping in her cage in our bedroom the last few nights.
She settles straight away and sleeps for roughly 8 hours then cries to be let out to have a wee, She won't use the toilet in her cage. I also put her in there when I have to go out and it does not bother her, so we are hoping to move the cage back to the lounge tonight and see how she goes.

Re: puppy wont stop crying at night!! help

We left Ruby on her own last night and she slept really well. We went to bed at 10pm and she woke us up crying at 6am. I'm really pleased.

Re: puppy wont stop crying at night!! help

Hi, i had a crate and she was in it for the first week but went mad when she was in it, she wasnt as bad when we took it out, i have started to leave her for a while in the back hall while i do school runs etc, to be honest i did not hear her last night as i was so tried but my husband thinks she was abit better, will keep trying this for a few more days to see what happens, if not i will take her to the bedroom.

Thank you for taking the time to reply to my post its good to hear from other pet owner and has give me peace of mind thanks again

sara xx
