Hi, I am new to the forum and would desperately like some advice on my 9 month old collie cross, she will not walk on the lead or go in the car without being forced to,and when we let her off the lead she will not come back.
Can anyone help please ?.

Re: my collie will not go out

Hi welcome to the forum
Firstly I wouldnt let her off the lead under any circumstances until you have 100% recall - its dangerous for her and other people - she could run onto the road and cause an accident or something.
Have you had her from a puppy? Have you ever trained a dog before? Has she been to some classes?
Collies are notorious for being very very clever and highly trainable - but also can be over excitable and get bored very easily if their mind is not kept stimulated and they dont receive the right amount of exercise

Re: my collie will not go out

Hi and welcome to the forum. I got my collie when she was 6 mths old and had never been on a leash or in a house. I think that letting her have the leash on in the house is a good idea don't hold the end let her drag it for a few minutes give her a treat to take her mind of it and stay with her or she might chew it or get caught in something. When you do go out with her you may have to kneel down and call her then go to the end of the leash again and kneel down and call her she will soon realize that it's okay...Jill
