Re: breeding

Yes they will register the pups.....

....but why do you want to? I wouldn't recommend it be done by a novice breeder. Line breeding and inbreeding is usually undertaken to cement certain characteristics, father and daughter is very close and should only be done if you know your dogs lines EXTREMELY well to ensure you don't unearth hidden/recessive health problems.

Re: breeding

hi Emma, i know someone who has pugs she has had them for years but she has never bred herself it is just to risky not only for the bitch & puppies but because they are prone to so many genetic diseases over 30, she dosent think its worth the risk. If you do breed yours please get them tested for hip & elbow dysplasia, thyroid disease, genetic eye diseases, cardiac test & liver function test responsible breeders test for these. Heres something about the risks of pug breeding PugSavers - Should I Breed My Pug?

Re: breeding

You would have to know the lines inside out before you even consider doing this.

Why do you want to inbreed? What are you trying to achieve by doing so?

Re: breeding

i am emma & i have 2 pugs a female & a male both from different liters, i am intending to breed form them & further start breeding as a full time job including a kennels & cattery business,
i asked the question purely out of intrest as my friend suggested keeping one of the bitch pups & breeding from her aswell with the male i have
i didn't think tthink was asloud as it is inter breeding but thought i would look into it
thanks emma
You are going to breed as a job????
Breeding in the manner you talk about is best left to them in the know about the breed

Re: breeding

Hi it can be done and is done but you have to know your lines inside out, back to front and upside down!!!!! It is only something carried out by those who have been in the 'game' for many many years who know the animals behind really well as unfortunately so many 'problems' are 'swept under the carpet' and so this is when you have the mutant genes cause hereditary problems within the lines
