Hi everyone
Hi everyone
I have an elderly German Shepherd Dog, who has kidney failure and very wobbly hind legs, and whose time (I say this in fear and trembling) may be short. I cannot imagine how I will be able to live without her. I used to have, until last September, the world's most beautiful and characterful cat (don't we all) who was 16, and I still miss him daily. My dog, Ellie, has a kitten* - seriously- who is a rescued feral kitten, and who is overwhelmingly relieved to find a good and loving home with a house, a human, and even a dog - all of her very own. *When Jassie had to have the awful visit from the vet, Ellie was allowed to say goodbye, but still looked for him, searching high and low, had an asthma attack from anxiety and refused to eat. It looked as if she was going to die of grief. Out of the blue offers of kittens came from all corners of the compass, and Ellie chose her kitten (a couple of days after my Jassie's demise was too soon for me). Ellie's joy at having a kitten was writ large upon her face, she was amazed and delighted, utterly thrilled, and loves her kitten to this day. Tiny Tabitha is developing into a slightly larger kitten, full of bounce and character - but still nervous of strangers, especially men; however she is getting more confidence in the world, and enjoys herself immensely. |

Hi HollyM
Many thanks for the welcome - Ellie's legs are much better this evening than earlier, when they barely functioned, causing firmly suppressed panic in me. It's the breeding you see, they bred for looks not health, about which I cannot express my feelings politely! What colour is your BSH kitten Walter, and when will you get him (as I am new I have no idea if your 1 week and 2 days is daily updated)? Kittens are lovely, and such a joy you don't begrudge them the extra work; I found it terribly hard to tell Tabitha off even when I found her half way up the North Face of the Eiger - otherwise known as halfway up my prettiest wallpaper! I compromised with a gentle and firm 'No.' and lifted her off. She then did it again: 'See what I can do Mum!'. Kittens... |

Re: Hi everyone
Hi Metame
Thanks for your message; I've started a new and improved regime of massage to Ellie's hind legs and back at least half a dozen times a day, this can work wonders, but can be a bit hard to get done. She still plays with her kitten - and most of the time the kitten instigates the play - as she is a rescued ex feral kitten, and had 4 homes before this, and arrived with a LOT of health issues, I am really happy she is doing so well. She's a cutie-pie!! AE |
