Wow .. what a welcome.

To answer some questions:

I am from Nelson top of the South Island.

We have 3 cats and a couple of sheep and half a dozen chickens. But we live on a farm so we are surrounded by animals.

A few pictures are posted here
I will work on improving them.

Re: Hi from down under

Is Nelson near Wanaka ? Well it is on the way to Wanaka About 4 hours drive further South.

The view is unfortunately not looking up the road but it is about 20 minutes drive.
On the other hand I was up there last weekend and it is much colder! So its not all bad living a little closer to the sea!

We are still miles from a Chinese takeaway though

New Zealand is a great place to live - but its not a great place to earn money, so unless you come with enough money to set yourself up with a house and business, you are probably better off where you are

But hey, if you make it down this way let me know and you are most welcome to swing by!

Does that mean it's warmer where you are? - i'm a sun worshipper (UK isn't great for that!)
Someone else has said earnings aren't as good as over here - is the cost of living better though? - i've heard the pace of life is a lot more chilled
Think i need to start saving up for plane tickets, could be a while
Am thinking how handy a sheep is as well - would never need to mow the lawn again and how sweet are they!!

Nelson usually wins the most sunshine hours per annum in NZ

Unfortunately because of this wages are low and cost of living is high.

But life is pretty relaxed here... especially for those of us who are self unemployed.

Sheep are only sweet for the first few months of their life - they are a high maintainance animal. But they can make a great pet - and yes they are excellent lawn mowers lol

I don't see the point in expending energy and or fuel to mow the lawn when I can have sheep doing it for me. They aren't so good on my wife's flower gardens though
