hey, ty! :--)
i am going to guess he had Demodex (not Sarcoptes) - Demo-outbreaks are a strong indicator of auto-immune issues.
Pitties, Dobes, Boxers, Min-Pins, Doxies, + some other smooth-coat breeds (and their mixes) are more-susceptible vs other breeds -
there are a number of things that can help to support + improve his immune-function, even now at 12-MO -

* raw garlic peeled + minced fine
i buy the minced packed in water + keep it in the frig in the jar

* probiotics -
as many species as U can lay hands on and high-potency/REFRIGERATED not low-potency shelf-stable

* digestive-enzymes -
human-grade and many specific types in one capsule; they help with digestion + absorption, *both*

* organic-yogurt -
which can be used to trap the powder from the probiotic + dig-enzyme capsules, so they don;t fly off when the dog sneezes
after sniffing just stir the powder in well before offering it, or mix the dosed-yogurt right into his meal

RenewLife Digest-ULTRA is an excellent digestive-enzymes blend;
Udos-Choice is a wonderful line with incredibly high-potency probiotics -
some have Billions with a B organisms per capsule, Wow.

full-disclosure:
for anybody wondering, i do not get a dime or any other consideration -
i use em, i like em, i recommend em. i bought them for my elderly mother, when she was ill,
and they really helped her, too; me, my pets, my family, my clients have used them, with good results.

cheers,
--- terry
