GAL enclosures

just wondered, what do people use to keep their GALS in? I want a proper glass tank so i can see them properly, so am hoping to set that up when i move back home, but at the minute they're just in a big plastic box with hols drilled in the top...

how about others/what do people prefer?

and if there has been a thread like this before, i apologise

Re: GAL enclosures

Hi.
I currently have a large plastic, faunarium I believe they're called. But as plastic scratches so easily, I'm also looking to get a large glass tank.

It doesn't really matter what they're kept in so long as the material is clear and well ventilated but i must admit, i'd rathe have someting that looks nicer too.

Re: GAL enclosures

My 2 are in a plastic box with holes drilled in the top. it does the job and they are happy living in it.

They were in a glass tank but the sound of the shells scraping against the sides of it was awful!

Re: GAL enclosures

heh, i guess as long as theyre happy. I mean, mine love their plastic box too. But i would really love to set them up with a glass tank when i get home. They seem to be agorophobic though seems the larger their enclosure gets the less they come out and say hello!

Re: GAL enclosures

Yes mine were like that to start with, when they were tiny they were in a smaller plastic tank but as they got bigger i upgraded the tank to my storage box and it took them a while to get used to it, they used to hide quite a lot but they are quite active now

Re: GAL enclosures

My Giant African Land Snails are doing really well in the PSC which I bought specially for them. I mentioned this a while back on the forum. The PSC looks nice and is so easy to clean and the snails love it; I've even had one poking its eye out of the top! I got mine from Small Life Supplies.

Re: GAL enclosures

I have a 3 ft tank for my GALS

imo plastic looks a bit cheap and tacky were a glass tank looks all nice and posh lol

Yehh plastc tanks are all right for lil babies but when ther adults a nice big glass tank is perfect ^^ they are going to be living there for around 10 years and you'll be able to re-use it for maybe other animals later on like Spiderrrs, or millipeids

:P
I love to put pretty things in mine, like a big rot proof branch, a nice shallow reptile water dish, huge pile of spagnum moss, 'living' lettucce'.
I would love love love to add a mini water fall that would look stunning.
What sort of stuff do you have in your tanks?

Re: GAL enclosures

I've not got my snails at the minute. And I miss them. Cant wait to get them back and set up properly, but yeah they had pots and growing lettuce, branches etc.
