my dad has just admitted to me that 2 days ago he accidentally stepped on one of my male leaf insects (phyllium siccifoliums)
as my leaf insects dont live in an enclosure as i feel they need the room to fly and it prevents other health problems, also as i live up in our attic i didint believe that the leaf insects would manage to get down stairs BUT........... i was wrong and now im one down ![]()

Re: accidental death !
ive found a flextarium that i would like to get although they are quite expensive so going to try and find a second hand one for them.
i wouldnt put then in a glass tank/sweet jars as in my opinion its cruel as the males enjoy to have a large area to fly around in, and as they are nocturnal this is done during the nights so im quite stuck as to what to do ![]()

Re: accidental death !
I agree that glass tanks and sweet jars are a really bad idea. I think they were used when there weren't better alternatives available. I've kept leaf insects successfully in the Bug Studio Professional; it's light and easy to move and you can take the leaf insects out to fly during the day. The Bug Studio Professionals were selling for £20 at the insect show at Kempton Park the other weekend. The clear see-through sides means that you can see the leaf insects much better than you can in one of those black netting enclosures.
