beetles?

hi there

in a few weeks, im moving outta my parents house, into my own place, and am seriously considering getting some beetles as pets. species ive looked at include Mecynorrhina torquata, Mecynorrhina oberthuri, Chelorrhina Polyphemus and potosia aeruginosa.

obviously i like to research well before i get any pet, so im looking at the moment, but cant find much info online about beetle care. is there anyone here who could maybe provide me with some info about their upkeep, what i will need, maybe some links to sites with good reading... anything like that? maybe even somewhere online to buy them (ones ive seen are on ebay).

thanks for the help
Fishy

Re: beetles?

You could try Small-Life Supplies, they breed beetles and other insects and also supply the equipment too.

Re: beetles?

I keep Sun Beetles (Pachnoda margiata) they're really easy to look after. Also known as fruit beetles..

This is the tank I keep them in... (bad picture, had to take it on my phone, as my camera's playing up)

and some of the beetles..

They can fly, so need a secure lid.. an Exo Terra glass vivarium works well, as they have enough ventilation with the mesh lid.
