Re: Soil
Normally, there's no need to use soil for Giant African Land Snails. It's easiest to use a soft Liner on the floor of their home; this helps to protect the snail should it fall off the roof. They usually rest under the roof. When the snails are big and are ready to lay eggs you can put a foil dish of soil in there because they bury their eggs in soil. I put the soil in an old baking tin in the oven (hottest setting) for about 20 minutes. Then I let it cool down and then transfer it to the foil dish for the snails. The reason for putting it in the oven is to kill off anything in the soil which might harm the snails or their eggs.
