Yemen Chameleon post mortem please?
Hi my sister's chameleon died today. She has had him about a year I think and he was adult when he came.
She walked in to see him dead at the bottom of the terrarium. He has a wound on his stomach too.
About 6 months ago(ish) she bought a female for him but within a couple of weeks the female died with a similar wound on her stomach. She thought Enid, the female, had fallen from the top of the terrarium onto a stick that was erected in there.
This time the stick wasn't there yet the wound is the same. She thinks it's possibly crickets...but he was eating the ones she put in this morning! She thought he had eaten them all as she is quite diligent about checking this.
What could have been the cause of death? I am wondering if the wound was caused by the crickets after death...maybe they were scavenging on the body?
I would appreciate any advice/info peopl have!
Thanks. xx
