We've given up trying to get our mantid to stop biting, how do we get him off?!

You may have seen our post on this page about our mantid trying to eat us. He still does this but he is a big strong boy now and when he bites we can't get him off!
Last time he did it he held on so tight and did take a little dent out of my finger so I had to pull him off. I was really scared I had hurt him and since then I haven't handled him since incase I injure him.

We know he's going to bite sometimes, we can deal with that, but is there a safer way to pull him off.

I would be really sad if this meant I would never be able to handle him again because he's my little baby and I miss him sitting with me when I watch tv!

Anyone got any ideas so I can have my little companion back?

What type of mantid is he? Perhaps a Chinese one? I know those can be aggressive.
