Is there a requirement for the horse size before jumping?

Hi,

My friend horse is about 120 cm height (from ground to the back of the horse), is there a maximum height of fences that he shouldn't exceed regarding his horse size? My friend's mare is obviously small in size.

I am asking this because I think that he is overloading his horse with fences like 1 meter height, sometimes she does it, but to complete a course like that it seems very hard for her, I think she hits or refuse to jump some fences due to this. He claims that since she did it before then she can do it, but I think she is overloaded and I feel pity for her, I told him that the suitable height for her is about 90cm which is the 6th level here in our courses.

So, is there any rule that can manage this so that I can convince him with facts?

I would appreciate your answers for the horse's sake

Thanks in advance

Some ponies can jump extremely high, try googling Stroller and Marion Mould! But there is a toll on the tendons and ligaments, so why risk it on a loved pony?

I used to love Marion and Stroller! that was my era! At the time I rode a 12.2 that would jump anything I always fantasized being MM!!

The weight of the rider is more important than the size of the horse/pony!

A slightly heavier more experienced rider will put less pressure on a pony than a lighter novice rider,as long as the pony is fit and well, then its up tp pony and rider
