Unhappy Help! Rearing Horse!

I have a 7 year old, 17.2hh German Sports Horse.
Great on the Flat, can be a little Nappy. Not that long ago loved jumping, was doing 1.40m Courses,
He will do the jumps now, as long as they are not away from the gate. He does a verticle rear and spins on one leg

Any Advise Please Anyone !!!!

Re: Help! Rearing Horse!

Ive recently bought a 17hh warmblood x,very nappy on hacks and started bucking, recent tests revealed a pelvic injury which makes him temporarily unridable!!!
Have you had your saddle checked by a master saddler?
Get a good vet to check horses back and neck.
Has horse had teeth checked recently?
Are you over feeding,or feeding unsuitable feeds?

Re: Help! Rearing Horse!

Yes I agree with the above.
If this is a new thing it is almost certainly to do with pain.
Get all the tack and back and teeth checked and see what if anything that shows up.If nothing it may be worth looking for a good instructor who can help you work him through the problem.
Is it possible you have overfaced him and he has lost his confidence?

Re: Help! Rearing Horse!

i never thought it could be a pain thing.
Im definatly going to have a saddle fitted see if that makes a difference.
He comes from Jumping yard, so i will look into whether they have been clipping his feet when training him to jump higher.
Will get his back, hips etc checked out and see what happens!
Let you all know as soon as i know !
