Leading Tips?

Hey guys,
My horse has become kind of difficult to lead. He is alright to catch but he is really tough to move away from his buddies in the field. He just stops dead. And obviously yanking on the lead rope is not working. Neither is turning him in circles (although he does it just fine). He just gets it in his head not to move past a certain point and he will walk around until that point then he stops.
Any tips or suggestions are welcome!!!

Re: Leading Tips?

Get your self a thick rope halter, so when they backs of you, it put pressure on the head so they learn to walk on, make sure that when they doe walk on that you phrase them

Re: Leading Tips?

If your allowed catch all the other horses first then catch yours since hes more likely to come since their are no other horses in the field and horses are herd animals

Re: Leading Tips?

The foals I worked with on work experience would do that. I would stand at their shoulder and if they didn't move on I would flick them with the end of the lead rope.
