Re: Riding Teacher
Generally there are lots of books about that can give you a good understanding of many aspects of horsemanship and are available in most places. This will help when you apply via the British Horses Society, to take their teaching exams!

Re: Riding Teacher
This from the BHS site which is the organisation which provides the Preliminary Teaching Test. They have info on Level 2 & 3 NVQ there relating exemptions to taking the BHS professional Stages exams.
Looks like you were doing the Schooling Horses option in your Level 3 cherry chops. "In order to apply for the Preliminary Teaching Test candidates must hold either the complete BHS Stage 2, Stage 3 or Stage 4. However as from 1 April 2007 candidates who hold the full Level 2/3 (NVQ) with the Schooling Horses option may now apply directly into the Preliminary Teaching Test" There is also the ABRS instructors qualification which not so many people know about. That is the Association of British Riding Schools. It is not recognised so well all over the world in the same way as the BHS of course but it is equally good and give you an equivalent riding teachers and riding instructors qualification which is officially recognised in the equine industry and so it is easy to get a job as an instructor with these qualifications. They also offer a good route via their riding schools with the weekly rider tests which are really really reasonably priced. They are relaxed and are often held in the evenings. Lots of their schools do them. If you gain 1 - 6 of those you can enter directly into their first Teaching exam. I have the contact details somewhere. If anyone wants it I could look it out. |
