Meet the new'un...

Well he isn't really new anymore, he's been with us for 3 weeks.
But I'm so glad I begged as much as I did for him xD All my money gone but ah hell it was so worth it

Here's a picture of him off dragon driving before I bought him (funnily enough from the same dealers as I got the pony everyone had a hooney about).

..ew. He was rancid and skinny and probably hadn't been bathed for about 5 years (soo...his life)
Blehh.
I don't do dirt...or skinny.
So here he is now.

Not a brilliant picture, but, I haven't uploaded the new ones off my camera yet.

He's a pretty funky pony, he's on twice the amount the TB eventer is on and he's not fizzy yet still getting the full effects of it (conditioning cubes and alfa-a).
He's my keepy-keepy-long-time horse. Hence why I've done pretty much nothing on the riding front except hack and trot work round the field, only really in the last week or so have I been riding him (I usually ride him, give him loads of treats afterwards, then don't ride him again for another 3 or 4 days).

He's getting there Just thought I'd share him with you all.
Now I need to think up a name...a kickass show name

Re: Meet the new'un...

hehe, he isn't a cob xD He's a Clydesdale x (how much Clydesdale is in there I'm not sure).
Will get some more pictures when I've resized them, it's a nightmare to do it on photobucket. Will hopefully finish them today

Re: Meet the new'un...

What a sweet looking boy. Shocked that he is 5 though, has he had a poor start? Looks so skinny, narrow and gangly! Hopefully with some decent feeding and worming he will be a different horse soon. He really does look more like a 3 year old to me though, have you had a vet confirm his age?

I've heard horror stories about Dragon Driving....!

Re: Meet the new'un...

Poor boy he looks so poor in those first pics, its a shame that dealer is making money when they obviously do not keep their horses well. At least he has a nice home now though to be built up. Probably best to build him up gradually like you said.

Well he was with the dealers since he was 6 months old, so pretty much had a really bad start :/
I think it's the Clyde in him that makes him look gangly, they're rather lanky xD
He's now officially been wormed, clipped (well just his feathers, grass mites :/), checked over by the vet and had his teeth done. He's a lot happier now, trots (or canters depending on how far away you are) over to me in the field and loves his brushings

:/ I haven't heard anything bad about them, though I do see A LOT of 2 year olds being ran into the ground on there. I always see it as a good place to buy projects from that other people have screwed up. I can't believe how cheap they all are on there

It's strange it was only him, a beautiful (well could be) Fell and filly that were really skinny, the rest were in a moderate condition :/
Hopefully I can start hacking him a bit more when my saddle arrives, he loves the open fields (so far only walked and trotted in them, bareback, it would just be asking for it if I cantered) and there's a subtle hill in the village which is good for going up. Hopefully will be able to focus on making him look more horse-like than lanky fluff-like hehe
