Question why is my mare running a tea coloured liquid?

hi,
i have a 6 year old mare who i bought in may 2011, she had bred a foal last year, she was also weaned from the foal in october 2010. the previous owners said that my mare (pearl) has not been in with a stallion since having the foal. although giving pearl regular work she dosent seem to be getting any thinner as she is on the large side, i have recently noticed that she has a tea coloured liquid in her bag surely she wouldnt be still producing milk now. does anybody know what this could be?
thanks katie bradley

I think personally you should phone the vet for advice or get him out for a visit? Are you 100% sure she is not in foal? It's better to be safe than sorry. Get her checked.

Yes get the vet out to check her over. Are her teats inflammed or looking sore? She could have mastitis which is extremely painful and needs treatment asap else she could get a really nasty infection. She could possibly be in foal, as it isn't uncommon for pregnant mares to have mastitis. Anyway get the vet out and have her checked as that'll give you peace of mind. Hope all is ok x
