Mare giving birth help
Hi it's not my horse she's in a feild with a load of other mares, they are all left alone, relying on passers by for food and water no vet help available - she gave birth to one foal alone ok, but about 4 hours later i saw her lie down, then as i was walking away heard distressed neighing and they all ran to her....is there somethingwrong? no idea who owns the horses, they have no shelter or anything, i don't think the owner goes near them much. Is there anything i can do to help? What if something is wrong with the mare? will the other horses take care of the baby? i think another one was pregnant too but it was deffo the foal's mother that screeched...

Re: Mare giving birth help
Please contact World Horse Welfare immediately if you cant get in touch with the owners - they will respond (far quicker than the RSPCA would)
From their website: Please call our Welfare Hotline at 08000 480 180 with as much detail as possible about the condition of the horse(s).

Re: Mare giving birth help
Buts its nature? Youre so against spaying and neutering animals, so the fox should be able to have its prey! Thats nature...

Quote:
As momentofmadness said it's probably just after the after birth, or it's been attracted by the smell of blood.
