er probs

2 days ago when we were tacking up our min shetland to go out, she was not happy and when we looked in one of her ears we found the prob. has anyone heard of anything like this or knows what it was. if you imagine a dragon back with scales sticking up thats what it was like. they were creamy yellow and with 3 of us struggling to hold her I managaed to gt most of them out of her ear, they were like flaky dusty scales that stood up, the skin underneath was dry and not apparently infected in any way. the vet didnt know what it was and the only ting we can do apparently is the vet can sedate her to have a good look if it does not appear cleared. #All we could think of is that she had been bitten and a load of fly eggs that had frozen in the - degrees we have had here at night. any thoughts appreciated

Re: er probs

I honestly have never heard of anything like that!! If I was you I would get the vet to sedate her and have a good look right down the ear to check that there isnt loads more inside where u cant see.
I am assuming the best thing you can do is completely clear it all out and get rid of it all and hope iot diesnt come back and if it does then get the vet to try and work out what it is.
Let us know how you get on

Re: er probs

thanks for reply, it was all at the top towards the top of her ear, there was nothing further down, it was really weird, like something out of space, but it was strange the way it disintegrated like dust when you touched it. we are trying to get another good look at her ear but like all shetlands she is strong - if I cant get anothr look Ill get the vet out next week.
