More Advice Needed!

Another issue I have!

I just wanted to make sure that it's ok for horses to be tied to a post in the ground? I've never seen this before until now and was a little concerned!

Also, there was a house near the horses in the field that were being kept in a back garden. They weren't there the other day when we went past but is there anything I should do if they're there again??

One last thing (Overly paranoid?!), there are 2 horses in another field. One has a foal. There are bricks and stuff in the field with them. I didn't think this was ok but wanted others opinion.
If it's not 'ok' is there anything I should/could do?

Thanks for any input!

Re: More Advice Needed!

It's currently not illegal for horses to be tethered and intervention can only be done if the animal is injured, has no access to fresh water or food.

Horse's in a back garden, again nothing illegal or hugely wrong with that...I've been known to put mine in the garden if I've been on a long ride passed my house and they needed a rest, but obviously it's not ideal for any length of time.

If you have any concerns regarding the horses welfare, and I would be bothered about a field full of rubble, contact World Horse Welfare and they will hopefully have an inspector nearby who can come and take a look.

Re: More Advice Needed!

Hmmm, sounds a bit wrong to me but that is just my personal opinion!

Oh, these horses were just being kept in a garden. About 4 of them and i'm not even talking a medium sized garden. It wasn't even a square or anything it was more like a cone shape.

Thank you for your advice! Much appreciated!!

Re: More Advice Needed!

If you have concerns about a horses welfare here is the link to Horse World welfare World Horse Welfare: Contact Us
Unfortunately it is not against the law to tether, but if the horse does not have water, is in a poor state or neglected then then that is against the law, as for having a horse in the back garden, as long as the horse is looked after and not neglected then again this is not against the law unless if in a built up area and environmental health sees it as a hazard.....
Again the state of the field if it is in a bad way ie bricks, glass, broken fencing and ragwort then contact horse world welfare or the RSPCA here is their link rspca.org.uk - Help and advice
even if you are not sure because they will make that decision. If a horse has been neglected usually the RSPCA or the world horse welfare try and work with owners first before horses are taken off them unless if it is severe neglect
