Pony Fleece Advice Needed please!!

Hi there I recently bought a 5'3 Fleece for my 8month old Colt.
However it fits him perfectly in the length, but is way too big in the width of the rug, and if I was to leave it on him he would most likley get his legs caught.

So Im going to have to save that one, but what the heck should i buy instead?

Its a Fleece for in his stable/Under a turnout rug (When I actually buy him one)

Any advice/suggestions greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Manyy rugs fit very differently.
It is worth speaking to the owner of the shop and ask their advice as they will be able to tell you what rugs may fit your youngster.
You may have to buy a foal rug.

Thing is with cuddly ponies is they are mainly aimed at dumpy little shetlands which are as wide as they are tall.
If it is a CP rug you have then I would try any other make as they should al come up less width than them.

Re: Pony Fleece Advice Needed please!!

Have you tried another brand such as Horseware, Masta etc? I have this issue with my ponies as they are so fine (riding ponies) and I have a amigo fleece which is just fab and a requisite (robinsons) but often have found if it isnt 'too' big a sursingle helps alot. But if you are using it for under a rug that won't work. Does it need to be under a turnout or can you not just get him a heavy weight?

With him being so young I was Advised against buying a heavyweight turnout by my vet, who advised against them due to the weight.

I will try another brand of rugs Thanks!

How big is he? My foals are teeny weeny at 3ft 4 each when they need rugging up in winter (late foals) and i use medium weight rugs and they do fine.

If he is from 11.2 any bigger I wouldnt say its a problem, from showing my ponies i have never come accross any issues with heavy weight ones as long as they dont get soaking wet and if they do took off replaced etc
