Re: Anyone met Monty Roberts???
Monty Roberts only works on horses he knows he won't fail on.
We took a horse to one of his shows once and he would not touch her. She had a serious fear of having her legs touched therefore not being able to be trimmed or shod. All the other horses were plaited and groomed well obviously well handled. He took one look at the mare and how bad she was and moved on to an easier project. He went down in my estimation that very day. You may be interested to know that the mare after much patient work at home can now be fully shod allround so anything is possible. |

Re: Anyone met Monty Roberts???
Can't say I'd want to meet him to be honest. He's a wonderful show man and I'll admit he does have a love of horses but other than that I don't rate his 'show's' one bit. Parelli and Monty Roberts ..nope not for me.

Re: Anyone met Monty Roberts???
Have not met him but was at his first ever show in London some years ago.
I went out of my lifelong interest in animal behaviour, with a friend who'd spent most of his life working with horses. We ended up - by accident - with literally ringside seats. Gobsmacked doesn't cover it, I was in tears of positive emotion most of the way through. If he chooses not to work with difficult horses in a show environment then I respect him... what he does do, in my opinion, is admirable.

Re: Anyone met Monty Roberts???
i love monty, pat and linda! i suspect they will only take on horses in their shows that are a "quick fix" deep seated problems would take much longer
and would not make good show viewing.***plug plug** we make fantastic round pens,as used by monty himself,if you fancy trying your hand at natural horsemanship!! ![]() ![]()

Will just say though, one of the horses they had on his first London show had just been taken out of a field unhandled, and was going wild in the box. He did great with it in under 20 mins. This was... oooh must be... nearly 15 yrs ago now? maybe he's developed a different structure for his live shows. It was at the London Arena and cost a bomb but I don't regret going, never will.

Re: Anyone met Monty Roberts???
Monty is adorable and huggable! He is a showman and a horseman, that said he is getting older and refused my artful little shetland roflmao, can't blame him even I hate bending down that far and as he said "aint nowhere safe from a shitty, yor always in range!"
But did take a friends mare to break and worked wonders. Another horse at the 'show' had a fear of boxes and Monty managed to work him on that issue and easily box him into a horsebox. We all nearly screamed at the owner when they came to take the horse back home afterwards, unding all the hard work and trying to load him in a SINGLE TRAILER! no wonder the horse was 16.2 and the trailer was far too small and swayed with that much weight in it. |
