Unhappy Oh I'm so sad

I just logged into bebo to read a message from my old trekking centre.
My fave boy is for sale along with a few others!
He is only for light trekking or for a companion. How I wish I could afford him. I will probably never see him again

Re: Oh I'm so sad

Why dont you contact them and ask if they would consider loaning him out? Or ask them if they can pass your details on to the new owner (if they arent too far from you) and say that you can help out with him should they need it. If someone buys him as a companion horse they might let you come and look after him?

Re: Oh I'm so sad

Oh I never thought of that. I would love to loan him out but we just don't have the money. It would be fine if it weren't for the insurance and the farrier, I'd have somewhere to keep him.

I am in dumfries and galloway. I have a friend with a horse in the village but I can't help because the horse had been ignoring the girl (she's 14) so no one else works with her (apart from the mum occasionally ie boxing, and instructing).

Re: Oh I'm so sad

Thats a shame, you are a bit far from me. I was in your situation though. Was desperate for a horse but couldnt afford to keep or buy one. I advertised on Gumtree asking if anyone had horses and wanted some free help and within a week a lady contacted me saying that she had a stud farm just up the road from me and would i want to help out. I havent looked back since. I look after one of the yearlings for her 5 days a week and its as good as having a horse of my own except I dont have to pay. It works really well for both of us!

Its worth advertising, you never know your luck! xx

Have put a pic of my little Rosie on the bottom!

Re: Oh I'm so sad

Oh what a shame. My first loan horse was from my riding school, he was a perfect hack but nightmare in the school so the yard owner asked if I wanted to take him on free loan in exchange for leading a couple of hacks a week, of course I jumped at it and I adored him!! Sadly one day someone took him in the school by mistake and he kicked one of the other horses and broke her leg resulting in her being PTS, the yard owner just couldn't justify keeping him on the yard and offered him to me for sale, at the time I couldn't afford the £3000 price tag and he went to a trekking center. This was nearly 10 years ago and I still to this day think about him and what became of him, he broke my heart and I just wish I could have found a way to have kept him myself.

I'd definately ring and see if they would let you have the contact deals of whoever buys him.

Re: Oh I'm so sad

The first horse I loaned was a gorgeous arab mare called Zayna (hence my nickname on here). She was perfect but then my friend who i was loaning her from discovered that the woman who had sold Zayna to her wasnt her registered owner. My friend did some investigating and managed to get in contact with Zay's real owner who dropped the bombshell that Zay was in fact a stolen horse. She arrived the next day with a trailer and took her and although she promised to keep in touch she never did. That was about 4 months ago and I still miss her like mad and hope that shes happy wherever she is. The woman wasnt the nicest of people so i just hope she treats her horses well!

tonette is on a distinguished road
Re: Oh I'm so sad

If you are a competent rider you could advertise to help ride someone else's horse. I am too ill to ride mine I did pay someone once to ride Caddy but it didn't work out. There are a few horse owners due to illness or work commitments that would love a gentle rider to ride their horse to keep the horse ticking over so to speak...... I can say that because I would but it is finding the right person, that is the hard bit
