Bit quiet in here...

So tell us a bit about yourself

I'm Praecelsus, I own 3 horses and a pony and have been riding for....20+ years now. Too many. I am quite a 'natural horsemanship' type but that comes from living and owning horses around the world. I have gathered my own methods over the years, rather than buying into expensive programmes. My horses are all kept barefoot, and all live out 24/7 year round - even the Thoroughbreds.

Atm I am a happy hacker, but used to be quite the little gung-ho competitor until a very bad riding accident a couple of years ago when I paralysed myself (temporarily thanks to modern medicine) from the waist down.

Anyone else?

Re: Bit quiet in here...

I've got a 15 year old Belgian Warmblood and a 31 year old pony, both mares - also own a 14 year old Belgian warmblood gelding that my friend has permanent loan of.

First got on a pony 43 years ago! OMG! that does make me sound really really old!

Got my first pony at 12 and since then have only had about 4 'horseless' years.

Broke my back in a riding accident 11 years ago but still rode up until 2 years ago when a non - horse related back injury meant it was just too painful to get back on again.

My 15 year old was competed by a friend (cos he is a better rider than me!) and did quite well at dressage. In July 2009 she pulled her check ligament and although she was hacked out occassionally since then - she went lame again in August 2010 so I decided to retire her (or at least that is what I have told her ) - so I just have 2 VERY expensive pet equines now

Re: Bit quiet in here...

Im Jen, i share an 8 year old cob mare and her 8 month old filly foal

I lost my horse last year (he was pts due to a broken leg)
I moved house last year to the city so dont really have anything to do with horses much anymore but would love to get back into them full time and would kill to own one of my own again.

Im 20, have been riding since i was about...7(ish) my best friends parents taught me as my parents are TERRIFIED of horses.
I grew up riding 'market' horses and apparently iv got a 'hot bum' and can turn a seaside donkey into a nutjob :S EEEK!

I used to get on anything, but then somehow stupidly had a fall in a ditch resulting in a broken elbow and iv realised i dont bounce like i used to x

Re: Bit quiet in here...

Hey I'm Mel. Have a 16.3hh thoroughbred Mare called Star. She is 13 and have had her about a year now after buying her quite mistreated and severely underweight with a few problems. Has since turned into a nutcase and a typical hyperactive thoroughbred now she is fit and healthy!
I started riding when I was 5, and I am now 21. Mainley rode other peoples when I was a child due to parents having no experience or interest in horses and got my frist horse on loan when I was 15, a pure bred arab gelding (yes, quite a big step lol) then had a welsh pony and now have Star, she is for keeps!!!
