horses are driven for miles by copters across rough terrain, often in stifling heat or thru snow;
they are fenced out of water and some die of thirst; foals are separated from their dams,
some die left behind by the running herd; others suffer leg injuries or other major hurts.

stallions are often injured when the captured horses are not SEPARATED into individual bands;
U cannot keep a group of milling horses with 5 or 6 adult studs in the mass, safely.
the chaos, injuries, cruelty and sheer expense are enormous.

the use of CHEMICAL sterilization on mares has been a disaster; instead of ONE estrus in spring, mares come into season repeatedly thru the year, and never *take*, exhausting the studs in driving off rivals every month and in all weathers;

ALSO foals are now BORN in the depths of winter or late in Fall, when there will be no
fresh green growth to wean them onto; they are stunted, poorly, die of exposure because they are too small
to maintain body-temp in severe weather, and so on.

the contraceptive tampering has IMO only made a bad situation worse.

the primary AIM of the Bureau of Land-Mgmt (AKA Beef, Land and Mining) is IMO to remove competitors
for grazing from the range - even tho only THREE-PERCENT of all USA-beef comes from Federal grazelands,
the Ag + Beef + Timber interests have huge, powerful lobbies in Wash, DC, which are well-funded + *donate*
enormous sums to various state-reps + senators every election, and periodically do them favors thru the year.

IMO we in the USA have the best Guvmint money can buy -
the problem is that VESTED * INTERESTS not citizens, have all the buying-power.

frustrated and angry over these latest disasters for wild-horses,
- terry
