I don't really know how to word this so plz bear with me.

I suffer from really bad periods.
I was put on a pill (Microgynon 30) to help with menstruation pain, flow etc.
It didn't really help. I got changed, but my doctor ended up putting me back on Microgynon (which i am still on).
Instead of 1 month on pill 1 week off, i am doing 3 months on, 1 week off.
The periods are just as bad now as what they were on the 1 month on.
When i bleed i spend most of the night & day on the toilet, i get endless diarroeah, and the pain is something else.
Does anyone know what would happen if i carried on taking the pill without having breaks.
(I hate to admit i've been doing this for two years.)

You can safely take 3 packets of pills back to back effectively having only 4 periods a year - thats what i do. I don't know what would happen if you never took a break though.

what about other forms of contraception, i've heard the injection can stop periods all together?

I never take a break usually, or if I do its when I think about it and not otherwise, to be fair it is probably every 3 months or so.

I know someone similar, admittedly she is 17, but she was prescribed specific medication as opposed to just the pill, and iron tablets etc, is it worth asking if anything else is available?

When i was on the pill i used to carry on packets My sister would only have 2 a yr and she was told its fine speak to your doc or even the nurse.

But i'm a bit afraid of going to my doctor about he (he is a man).
Plus, they'll say i've been abusing my medication and may take it off me. At leat, that's what i'm afraid of.

Can you see a different doctor? My doctor put me on Mercilon with no breaks for more than 2 years. I don't know about your particular pill or your health as I think it's different for everyone. I'm currently on Cerazette which is the pill form of the implant which means I don't ovulate, therefore no periods and no PMT (which was my particular problem).

Maybe talk to your doctor about getting an implant. It lasts around 3 years and stops your periods full stop.

(i say that with quotation marks coz i never take it) but it mite be worth asking your nurse to change it.

recently i was readin up on the pill and things and one site said unless your doctor or nurse is professionally trained with all kinds of pills they may put you on the one they feel best.

a family plannin clinic is the best place to go.

tell the doctor your not happy, sometimes all the numbers after your name still mean your rong

The implant DOES give you periods and i defo Ovulated on it (and pretty sure i miscarried on it aswell) It gave me very irregular ones Id have one every 3 weeks then none for 3months e.t.c

why would he say you were abusing the pill? He cant take a contraceptive off you

It's safe to take 3 packs back to back, it's not abusing medication at all, it's acceptable practise. to be fair, you needn't even tell him you take 3 packs back to back, when you run out all they do is weigh you, check your blood pressure and make sure you still feel happy with it.

Wouldnt it just be better to go to your doctor and explain that you would like further investigations as your periods are still causing you so many problems?? Seems like a no brainer to me - there may be another reason why things are so bad for you so to carry on taking the pill may really have a detrimental effect on your long term fertility
