Re: Consultants over worked or just do not bother?

I would say that consultant has prescribed it correctly and its fine to mix the drugs. The vast majority of drugs say not to mix with others but when prescribed by a gp/consultant they know they can be mixed its joe public who may borrow them off a friend who cant mix them and they legally need to state that on their pil (patient information leaflet)

If in any doubt contact your local pharmacy who have a huge background knowledge of drugs and their side effects etc and they will help put your mind at rest xxxx

Re: Consultants over worked or just do not bother?

speak to the pharmacist, he/she will be more clued up as to how much if at all any drugs can be mixed together. that's their job, consultants can't know everything about the drugs they prescribe, there are too many NEW types on the market for them to remember and advances etc in their own field. chances are he's given you something that can be mixed with mophine at the dose he's prescribed you but the best person to check with is the pharmacist who keeps on top of new drugs and what they do and react with etc.

pharmacists are doctors (have a chemistry PH.D.) who have specialised in medications, your consultant is a biologist.
