Retrieval Training

Posted this in general chat too.. but I know not a lot of people look here..

Today I decided to take Louie out to a reclamation area which is being sold as industrial land - has been for a while - don't thing anyone's interested. Anyway it's a great area to walk the dogs, the road is blocked so no one can get down, there is fencing all the way around and you can see your dog.. the only downside is that it is too small for a decent walk.

Anyway took a rabbit from the freezer - we've done pigeons so I tried fur.. Long intro so people can read what we've done if they are interested but don't have to look at the pictures

Here are some of the pictures..

Me - with a rabbit in my hand and Louie in a stay (You can ask Leanne - I almost gagged picking up pigeons) and I always ask the supplier to bag the rabbits for me - I was pretty brave here!

On the return - but the camera looked better than I did

Dilly dallying about (we're only in training though)

Sorry about the blurs - my sister isn't the best at photography and the weather was rubbish.

I have to say I am proud of Louie - I half expected him to go "Yum!" and eat it on the spot and secondly, Louie's weakness is other dogs - and as we were just getting started a man with a Boxer came onto this field :x and Louie stayed in his stay and retrieved the rabbit to me.. and much to my disgust we had to end it there.. didn't want Louie to get bored and I didn't want him to run up to this dog - who I have met before and he is DA.

Of course! We did do a few bits with the dummy beforehand - just so he knew it wasn't dinner time
