Pet hair, carpets and vacuum cleaners

I need to purchase a new upright vacuum cleaner. I have two dogs who shed a lot of hair at times so need one that is powerful enough to cope. Also, need a Hepa filter model due to being asthmatic. I'd be interested to know opinions from anyone else that has pets and carpets and uses an upright vacuum cleaner.

I currently have a Dyson DC07 which I found really good but just wondering if others have better experience with other makes.

I have the same model as you and I haven't had any probs with it [touch wood] - it has worked through 2 dogs and now we have a GSD pup who will no doubt cast his fur sometime soon! Then again, no asthma sufferers in here

Hels x

Re: Pet hair, carpets and vacuum cleaners

i`ve got a swan petmaster, it`s a cylinder but it`s the best hoover i owned in my life and only cost £69. i got 2 heads with it, one is junk and the other is amazing and seems to pick up everything, didn`t expect it to be as good

I have the vax mach 7 at the moment and I absolutely loathe it. It weighs a ton and doesn't pick up half as much as I'd like. Defo one to avoid.

Re: Pet hair, carpets and vacuum cleaners

slightly off topic but why are the 'pet' vacuum cleaners always more expensive, sorry if that sounds like I'm a bit thick but I'm not very savvy when it comes to vacuums

Re: Pet hair, carpets and vacuum cleaners

We've been through lots of hoovers.
And that's only because every time my brother touches them they break... don't ask.

But, I can't remember the name of the one we have, but it's specifically for pet hair and works really well.
