How to take professional looking photos?

I would like to take some good pics of the dogs.

But I need some tips on how to make them look really good.

What angle/height should I take them from
What about the background
Position for the dog to be in

Re: How to take professional looking photos?

I'm hoping to get better at taking pics if I can
I know that its better if you can get to their level
and if you are taking them outside, not when the sun is at its highest.

I can't wiat to see the other replies cos there is lots of really good photographers on here

Re: How to take professional looking photos?

Have a read up of "the rule of thirds". It's not a hard and fast rule but it's a good way of composing a photo.

Watch the background.

Get a different perspective - get up high, down low etc.

Watch the contrast, especially with the current weather. Getting details from dark colours against the white of the snow will be difficult even for the new DSLR cameras.

And most important, take loads of photos.

Re: How to take professional looking photos?

I didn't take many today, my fingers were too cold! Lol

But here's an action shot of Tara- I had to edit it a bit because it was so dark.

I follow the rule take LOADS then you can pick which one has come out best.. heres some of my good ones well I think there good

This is one is blurry because I had to zoom right in, hence the dslr camera ive bought having 6x optical zoom rather than 3x i already have

This one, I took alot - this one turned out the best

Re: How to take professional looking photos?

Try and get to their level.
Shoot from light into dark if you have to (if the area you're in isn't all light), not dark into light.
Use the rule of thirds, comes in handy!
For focus, some cameras have it where you press the 'capture' button half way to get it focused properly and then press it down fully. I'm not sure if that's for all cameras or not. Mine has it.
Just snap away, then look at them on your computer, saves time!
