morning all, thank you all for your replies last night, i think the majority agreed i wasnt being to strict with her!!! lol i think it is probably the fact that i do have to drive the 20 mins there and back to get her , as she is a really sensible girl and i suppose if we still lived in the area ( she has grown up there all her life and knows everyone) i would probably be letting her out later, but anyhow we didnt get back in until nearly 12 so she did get her extra 1/2 hour lol

Re: do you think i am too strict
Ideally you set the ground rules and stick to them.
I'm too soft being a Friday night no school I would probably have said okay but then kids try to push the boundaries even further ie oh my mates dad is picking her up at 24.00 etc etc.. At 18 I was allowed to stay out until 23.00 at weekends and 21.00 week days could push it to 21.30 but I had run like hell upstairs to bed before the dreaded Susan, boy if they called your name in full you were in for it. Yes you are right, I pushed the boundaries my kids pushed the boundaries, fortunately they have all now flown the nest and I can sit back and relax now. Things are different today there seems to be more dangers. If you can, set your boundaries and stick to them. Sue |

Re: do you think i am too strict
my mum expects me to leae places before everyone else (they're younger than me too). when they're due home at say 1 my mum wants me back for 11 latest
![]() It's so annoying, most of the time i dont bother going out. then again when i do i'm usually late, 11 is far to early for an 18 year old! on new years i got in at 3.30 which i felt the next day, i usually like to get home by midnight - half midnight which is think is alright

Now I was going out one evening when a film was on TV that I really wanted to watch Dirty Dancing, I asked my parents to video it, they agreed. Following day I asked about the video mum said very sharply no we didn't tape it. why, me and your dad don't agree with filth but it isn't - we know we watched it punchlines yet to come - I was about 30 at the time ![]() So you think you guys have it tough, its parents, parenting because they care - always remember that and you will realise in time you will be exactly the same with your own children even though right now you know you won't.
