Anybody know anything about computers?

My 18 year old son's computer has sort of blew up. He said he heard a sort of fizzing noise and then smelt burning and next thing it sparked and that was it - end of computer.

Anybody know what it could be? I was thinking possiby the motherboard but not computer literate so haven't the foggiest really.

He had it for his 18th birthday in January from PC World so it should still be under guarantee if I can find the receipt.

Re: Anybody know anything about computers?

I'd just take it back to PC World and let them sort it out.

Don't touch it yourself, you will brake the warranty and any repairs you'll have to pay for yourself.

Re: Anybody know anything about computers?

Dont have a go yourself to see wht the problem is, if you still have the receipt then take it back to PC world they will know what they are doing, if you go into the pc then your receipt will become void for 12 months warranty.

Yes I can imagine it's got fluff and dust in it because he isn't the cleanest of creatures. (well he is but his computer desk isn't )
We will take it back tomorrow. Thanks Ivan.

No we will just take it back cos I know nothing about their insides, and not a lot more about their 'outsides'.
