Why are people against Pets at home

Hi I am new to Pet Forums. It seems that on a lot of these posts people seem to be against pets at home, what is the reasoning behind this.

Re: Why are people against Pets at home

I like pets at home in terms of dog knowledge, and products, fish knowledge...not so much... Not against them though, their staff are very friendly and willing to find information out for you.

I'm against pets at home because they sold me a common pleco and told me he would be fine with my two goldfish but how wrong they were. In october last year I bought a fantail goldfish from pet at home well I think I got a sick fish because I found they were all sick starting with the new fish and then they all died in one go. Every time I have been in pets at home I see dead or sick fish and people tell me they are just fish.

Re: Why are people against Pets at home

The thing that annoys me about pets at home is that the staff don't seem to know much about the animals they are selling and I don't like the way some of the animals are kept in the store. Last Sunday we went to one of our local pets at home and there was six Syrian hamsters in a tank like cage with only one bed, no wheel and the tank was only about a foot long and not even a foot wide and I think that is cruel. It's a big store and I think they should devote more space to the hamsters and give them proper cages with toys. They also have a light on all day and as we all know hamsters are nocturnal so it's wrong.

Also most of the staff aren't very helpful. In fact I went to buy a guinea pig from there this summer and the girl serving me decided to break off from serving me to have a conversation with her friend who had just popped in the store, now that is downright rude in my opinion.

personally i dont shop there at all!

also think they should have more room for there animals - there is no excuse when they have a huge shop like that!

Yes that's true - someone on here got one a week or so ago and it's had babies a few days ago.
