Question K9 Life Saver - Blood Donors

I didnt know they existed!

If your not sure what they are... basically its just doggie blood donors so vets then have doggie blood for emergancies..

good or bad idea?

Good - incase of an emergancy / saves lives etc
Bad - Dogs dont have a choice doing it / bad blood?

Discuss! x

Re: K9 Life Saver - Blood Donors

One of my dogs is giving blood for the first time tomorrow, should be fun since he hates the vets and I hate needles.

Our vet had posters up so I just put my name down there, they rang me to make sure he was a suitable candidate and then sent out a few short forms to fill in.

Have a look at Pet Blood Bank UK - that should tell you everything you need to know.

Re: K9 Life Saver - Blood Donors

I've heard of this before and if Amber was younger I would have considered doing it.

Re: K9 Life Saver - Blood Donors

Yeah I agree with it. As long as the dog, doesn't carry any diseases or anything, that is contagious and it helps safe other owner's dogs life - stopping people from worrying, their dog will die I think it's a good thing.
